Underhanded and Overheard

I call cheating!

The writers did it again yesterday and I think it's cheating. Any "Passions" viewer knows that characters often turn to the camera and talk to themselves. We as viewers understand that this is simply a dramatic device to let us into the characters' heads, that they're not really turning to the corner and talking to themselves in a crowded room.

But every once in a while someone will overhear that character and ask what they mean by what they were saying. Say that Tabitha mumbles, "Good thing they don't all know that I'm a 400-year-old witch" and suddenly someone says, "What Tabitha, you're a witch?" I mean, that's ridiculous. Why would Tabitha really have said something like that out loud, with people so close?

They did it again yesterday. Chris said to the infant that he wasn't the child's real father, and fake Sheridan overheard him. But why would any sensible man say something like that out loud, if he was in hiding? It doesn't make sense. It's a cheat, just to create some artificial drama.

By the way, Chris was shirtless yesterday for the first time, so that took about three weeks, if anyone was wondering. Not too bad, either.

While I do agree that this instance does seem like cheating, he WAS technically talking to Mark... and everyone saw that, "I've never been a father emotionally" cover-up crap from a million miles away.

I thought of that, but talking to a pre-vocal infant isn't any different than talking to yourself. It's still simply a dramatic device whether the person is talking to a child or to a potted plant.
